This was the first time we would be mixing juice and soft drink, but we had learnt from watching many buddy cop dramas that mixing two opposites might… just… work.

We already knew the Fruity Lexia and Creaming Soda had a Mel Gibson/Danny Glover chemistry, but we needed a Pesci and I don’t know about you, but when I hear the name Joe Pesci I think apple juice. So it was decided, we left to (Leo) Getz us some apple juice.

The mix consisted of 5/10ths Golden Oak Fruity Lexia, 3/10ths creaming soda and 2/10ths apple juice. We mixed him in big George Clooney, (if you don’t know what that is CLICK HERE) he was looking good, the old silver fox. The mix streamed out of his tap with gusto, combining the drinks into a brown-ey coloured liquid almost looking like beer.

I don’t know how, but the addition of Pesci to the already established relationship between Gibson and Glover was genius and tasted amazing.

The second best…

The combination of the three men actually tasted like fairy floss which is strange as they are all very masculine men (some more than others…..Pesci). The mix was very easy drinking, tasting light, not too sweet and had great carbonation – which juice mixes are usually lacking. You need the carbonation.

Something worth mentioning: we FINALLY made a healthy mix – so much apple juice.

Something worth mentioning: drinking a lot of apple juice may give you the shits.

Overall the Fairy Floss (Golden Oak Fruity Lexia with Apple Time Apple Juice and Schweppes Creaming Soda) is the best mix I have had in a long while, a definite must try.

It was 10pm. The night was warm. There stood the goonless man. He had a craving that could only be quenched by one thing – Goon.

So I bought some. The Stanley Classic Dry White to be specific. Stupidly, forgetting to buy mixers, I arrived at a friend’s house and was forced to scrounge through his fridge for whatever we could find.

What we found was a half a bottle of Sprite, a bottle of Lift, a third of a cask of Golden Oak Dolce Rosso and half a bottle of Juicee Apple and Raspberry cordial concentrate.

Our mix went as follows: 1/6^th red wine, 1/6^th white, 3/6^th Lift and 1/6^th Sprite with a splash of cordial, all mixed with an old chop stick we found in the drawer.

For a mix that was born from left overs, it was pretty damn good. All the flavours combined well and the end result was a drink that tasted a lot like Fruit Tingles, maybe even a little of sherbet. Which isn’t surprising as the actual Fruit Tingle cocktail contains vodka, blue curacao, raspberry cordial and lemonade.

Many cups were consumed that night, yet the drink never became sickening like a lot of other sweet mixes we’ve tried.

And I have to say, if you have never tried mixing white and red wine in your goon mix – do it! You will not be disappointed. But be careful not to use too much red.

The major con of this mix was the price as the Lift, Sprite and Cordial all cost around $3 each. However, the cordial will last a while and the Lift/Sprite can be traded for cheaper alternatives such as Home Brand lemonades or squashes. Having both the Sprite and the Lift was a bit of over kill and the mix would most likely still work with just one of the two soft drinks.

Overall a great mix for fans of sweet alcoholic drinks such as cocktails, Cruisers, etc.

In this line of work you have to sift through your fair share of rubbish mixers, but every once in a while you come across something so great, so breathtaking, it actually makes your life worth living. It makes you forget what is wrong with the world and focus on the beautiful things, like goon and drinking goon.

As the sweet nectar passed over my taste buds I felt a tingling sensation. I felt as if God himself was looking down on me giving me the thumbs up, as if to say:

‘You’ve done good kid, great job.’

And I didn’t have a hangover in the morning . . . MIRACLE.

This mix can be a bit pricey, but as you only need a small amount of the two most expensive mixers, they tend to last a while. It doesn’t really matter how much Ceda (The Seed) you use, as that stuff is pennies.

Overall a great mix, definitely one of the best. Gives me hope that there are still undiscovered treasures waiting to be mixed.
