For ease of drinking you cannot go past Tangled Vine Estate. It is some of the smoothest goon on the market. Now, it is a Coles owned company and I, like the rest of Australia, like to think I support independent companies over a large corporate one, but I, like the rest of Australia, still just buy whatever is cheapest. My thoughts are in the right place and in the end isn’t that enough…?

The answer to that is no.

The box features a lovely bottle of wine, which is funny, as it is on a goon sack. It does, however, do its job quite well, which is making the wine look as classy as shit.

The wine has an average pour – it comes out quite pale and kind of murky.

On the nose, the Tangled Vine Estate Fruity Lexia is a little ‘on the nose’ (see what I did there?). Just kidding though, but seriously, it smells like Christmas and not a bad Christmas either. A great Christmas. The kind of Christmas people brag about.  The smell is also quite sweet and a little floral. For all of you (which is a lot) looking for floral notes in goon.

The taste is great. A lot like the Day Break Estate Fruity Lexia, the wine tastes as if it has already been mixed with lemonade. The taste is also rich, almost syrupy, kind of like dessert wine. Definitely refreshing though, don’t question its ability to refresh and great for mixing, as the flavour can be easily masked.

Some Positives:

 1. Great taste.

2. Light and easy drinking.

3. 35 Standard drinks.

Some Negatives:

 1. A little too rich for some.

2. A little pale.

3. Doesn’t support Australian wine.

Overall a top goon. Great taste, average alcohol content and all for only $12.

Being regular goon drinkers, we – and I’m sure you – have tried many different brands of Fruity Lexia, it tends to be a fan favourite. However, I can assure you that you’ve never tasted a Lexia like the Day Break Estate Fruity Lexia (unless you’ve tasted this one).

When I first laid eyes on the cask, I thought I was dreaming. I had never, in all my days drinking goon, seen a box of goon so beautiful. The image features a fiery orange sunset with a silhouetted tree in the foreground. The image really sets the mood for what the drinking experience is going to be like.

The pour was slightly less breathtaking, as the wine looked like water you’d find in an old creek.

On the nose, the wine had a pretty subtle smell; soft and fruity. It would definitely be well suited for some kind of Sangria mix.

But by far my favourite part of this wine is the taste. It was really weird; I’ve never tasted a goon like it. It almost tasted like it had already been pre-mixed with lemonade or soda water, some kind of soft drink anyway. It pretty much tasted like a Sangria mix; it was incredible and no bitey after taste either.

The wine even finished smooth, which is strange for a goon that has 37.5 standos (standard drinks).

Overall one of the best goons I have tasted and to get 37.5 standos and 5 litres of goon for $14, you’re bloody laffin m8. This is a MUST BUY!

Weighing in at a scrawny 2 litres, this posh little sack may seem small, but what he loses in quantity and cost, he makes up for in taste.

He comes from Australia’s oldest family owned winery, so you get to feel like a hero for making the purchase. While leaving the bottle shop be sure to stick your finger up at other casks made by large, heartless companies. I’m never buying from a company like that again. Not really, if they have cheap goon I’m definitely buying it – I am only human after all.

Rag’n’Bone Man knows what I mean…

The Yalumba Classic Dry White was one of the best casks I’ve tasted. It was light and super easy to drink; I would even go as far as saying that it was refreshing. He wasn’t too sweet either probably pairing well with sweeter mixers, and he’s strong to boot – containing 19 standard drinks in just 2 litres.

However, it does cost $12.50 for 2 litres which is CRAZY expensive in the world of goon, so I’d suggest that this sack is more for people that enjoy the taste of goon. The type of goon you drink when your work requires you to wear a suit.

Meet Dave, he is mildly successful. He drinks Yalumba. He has a rich family. He thinks his successful is solely form hard work and tells everyone this. Dave has no friends.

Overall he’s a bit of an all-rounder, this little fella. Tastes good, mixes well, but due to the price is probably not suited to the young, poor, goon drinker.
